Mirion Technologies has enhanced one model of its Gamma Spectroscopy Systems through collaboration with Movetech UK, who designed and manufactured a bespoke turntable with fully integrated weighing capability. The specialist platform now forms an important element within Mirion’s turnkey solution, supporting accurate measurement during critical inspection processes.
Mirion required a compact, robust and smooth turntable capable of delivering more than standard rotational control. The application demanded stable, consistent rotation combined with precise weight measurement within a regulated nuclear environment. To achieve this, a purpose-engineered solution was required rather than an off-the-shelf product.
Movetech UK worked alongside Mirion’s engineering team to develop a unit that would integrate seamlessly into the scanning system. The design combines controlled movement with high-accuracy load cells, enabling components to be simultaneously rotated and weighed while essential data is captured during the scanning process.
The first unit was delivered in late 2022 and quickly became integral to Mirion’s system. Following its successful performance in operation, Mirion sold a further unit for which Movetech UK supplied an identical turntable in June 2025.
