Movement technology specialist Movetech UK (Part of the British Turntable Group) has underlined its commitment to advancing skilled engineers by continuing to invest in the future. Over the last several years the company has continued to expand its workforce and this has frequently involved enrolling young and talented engineering apprentices by offering them an opportunity to achieve their full potential.

In June 2010, Adam Gastall, 18, enrolled with the Bolton based company on a formal engineering apprenticeship scheme through Manchester Solutions, part of Manchester Chamber of Commerce. As part of his apprenticeship he continued to study at Bury College for 1.5 days each week to complete his BTEC in Electrical Engineering. This allowed Adam to follow a structured path that lead to formal, universally recognised qualifications, serving him, and Movetech UK, better in the future.

Since Adam’s arrival in 2010, he has continued to demonstrate his hands on and technical skills and has also portrayed a strong and ambitious attitude to succeed in everything he embarks on. In early 2013 Adam took the opportunity to enrol and successfully complete a Level 3 NVQ in Advanced Engineering. Later that year he also accomplished his Advanced Apprenticeship Qualifications, all significant in Adam’s journey to become a fully qualified engineer.

In May 2014, Adam’s years of hard work paid off when he was offered a full time Turntable Technician position by Movetech UK. Adam would continue to complete his day to day responsibilities such as mechanical, pneumatic and electrical assemblies, welding and grinding, fabrication and installation of heavy duty systems. Additional duties would now include servicing, maintenance and repair of current heavy duty installations at on-site locations up and down the country.

“I was over the moon when I was offered the role, it just shows if you work hard and you’re eager to succeed, you have every opportunity to accomplish your personal goals, just like I have. Working at Movetech UK isn’t just a job to me, we’re like a family, we all work great as a team, and when you enjoy getting up on a Monday morning to go to work you know you’re in the right place.” said Adam.

He then added: “I was always keen to be part of a successful company that knows all the ins and outs when it comes to engineering and manufacturing. Since joining nearly 6 years ago, I’ve achieved quite a lot, my biggest achievement was when I completed my advanced apprenticeship course, it’s took a lot of effort and determination but with the help of Movetech UK I am definitely heading in the right direction.”

In the last 18 months Adam has also successfully completed a Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS), Level 3 Portal Appliance Testing (PAT) course and is also certified to control and maintain the companies fork lift truck.

Adam, now 24, is currently studying a HND Level 5 Diploma in Mechanical Engineering which he hopes to successfully complete in the near future to further his career and help Movetech UK fulfil their future growth plans.
