When the Movetech UK rental team was commissioned by Mansfields to help launch the new Ford C-MAX in Nice, France, it was not just to supply the movement. The project included installation of the revolving stage, building the set, striking the set at the end of the run, dismantling the turntable and helping wherever needed.
Matt Forrest, Movetech UK’s rental manager at the London depot, explains: “Although my main job was to ensure the turntable was installed, working with Mansfields is more than that. It’s more of a team effort, getting stuck into other areas of the build, unloading trucks, laying floors and completing any other tasks given to me.”
“It all started at Gatwick airport, where I joined the Mansfields team to fly out to Nice for the build up of the set for the launch of the new C-MAX. From there I just got involved with whatever was necessary to meet the deadline for the launch to start. It’s all in a day’s work!”
The launch show ran for six weeks with international press flying in to test-drive the cars in a rolling two-day programme: every day another country’s press arrived to be shown the cars and put them through their paces on a demanding road circuit.
Matt Forrest continues: “The international launch took six weeks in all to complete, after which we all came back together for the breakdown and loading of the trucks to bring the kit back to England – a task which took four days. It’s all very slick: Mansfields are very organised and a pleasure to work with.
The 4.5 metre revolving stage chosen by Mansfields for the C-MAX launch is part of Movetech UK’s standard rental range. The range is very popular for product launches, exhibitions, events, TV and film requirements where only short term or occasional use of the movement is required. Renting equipment also keeps pricing to a minimum and obviates the need for storage.
